Court Clerk Pleads Guilty to Embezzling Court Fees

A former Lapeer Circuit Court clerk has pleaded guilty to attempted embezzlement in the theft of nearly $1,400 in filing fees from the court.  Interestingly, the clerk agreed to waive any concerns about conflicts in having the chief judge of the court for which she formerly worked, sentence her.  Read the story here.
